Volunteering at Lake County Health Department

The Lake County Medical Reserve Corps (LCMRC) is for volunteers who want to donate their time and expertise to prepare for and respond to emergencies and to support ongoing preparedness initiatives. MRC volunteers include medical and public health professionals and other community members without healthcare backgrounds who want to improve the health and safety of our community.

Founded in the fall of 2003, the goal of the LCMRC is to increase the healthcare surge capacity of the county and support the existing healthcare system during disasters and other public health emergencies. LCMRC volunteers serve a vital role by assisting with ongoing public health needs such as pandemic response, flu clinics, phone banks, and large-scale mental health emergencies.  Additionally, LCMRC volunteers have opportunities to receive hands-on training, participate in emergency preparedness exercises, and volunteer at community events. You can learn more about our program at https://www.lakecountyil.gov/volunteer.
